Hello Marcus,
with me exactly the same problem. I just wanted to update from 1.4.8 to 1.4.9. then came with me this error message.

Please tell us which PHP version you are using when you get this error.
It seems it is related to the newest PHP version.

Extracting the xxx.phar.tar.gz file in /libraries/sobi should also fix this issue .

Why.. why did you release this issue on the public live systems! We too have it and now we have a broken site.. Our php is 7.1.7 and joomla 3.9.2 .. omg . this is not good!

Sorry for late answer, somehow I didn't get notifications about answers in this topic, anyway there is no matter which version (clean or full) will be used, both behave in same way on update.

This happens only on servers which does not fully fulfil the SobiPro requirements, means where PHAR support is lacking or badly configured.
On such servers we extracted the framework on installation. But in the last versions of PHP the detection if PHAR support is available fails on servers where PHAR is not correctly configured and thus not available to use.

As there is a simple!! solution - just install SobiPro once again - I do not see a real problem until PHP has fixed the bug.

I have installed SobiPro once again and still have the error.

... with Joomla 3.9.3 and PHP Version 7.1.26 .

Please advise what to do.

I had this problem when updating to Joomla 3.9.2 and at that time reinstalling SobiPro twice did the trick.

now after updating to Joomla 3.9.3 Sobipro is broken again without updating Sobipro! just updating Joomla from 3.9.2 to 3.9.3 ... no change on the server-side, no change of ther PHP-Version ... only updating some Joomla-code

and this time definitely nothing helps anymore.

I tried reinstalling several times,
unpacking the library,
and switching the the PHP-Version to 5,6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3
even I tried to install an older Version of SobiPro

... absolutely hopeless

Also SobiPro ist not accessible from the backend anymore and ...
even if the file "Sobi-1.0.8.phar.tar.gz" has been unpacked and deleted, I get still the error-message:
1535198703 - Unexpected file extension in "phar:///www/htdocs/..../libraries/sobi/http://Sobi-1.0.8.phar.tar.gz/Framework.php" in the front and backend.

My guess is that SobiPro is not compatible with Joomla 3.9.x anymore

Maybe downgrading Joomla to 3.8 might rescue the site?

Joomla 3.9.3 now inhibits the loading of our phar packed framework. https://developer.joomla.org/security-centre/770-20190206-core-implement-the-typo3-phar-stream-wrapper.html
We need to find a solution how to overcome this new limitation of Joomla. Until then, please do NOT update Joomla on your SobiPro powered site or revert back to Joomla 3.9.2.

Hi,
I tried upgrading Joomla to 3.9.3 and installing SobiPro 1.4.10.
I got this error: "0 - Cannot initialise Sobi Framework. Ensure that your server has the Sobi Framework installed."

Will you let us know in this thread when there is a stable solution to the problem?
